Ingredients

  • 300 gbread flour
  • 150 mlmilk
  • 25 gsugar
  • 25 gbutter
  • 1 tspinstant yeast
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1egg
  • Sesame seeds

Steps

  1. 1

    Whisk sugar into milk and heat mixture in the microwave to lukewarm (this should take less than a minute on high)

  2. 2

    Add yeast into a large bowl and pour the milk and sugar mixture over it. Set aside

  3. 3

    Melt butter and mix it into the yeast mixture until all the yeast dissolves. Work quickly so that the mixture does not go cold

  4. 4

    Whisk in the salt and egg just until incorporated then add in flour gradually. Mix until dough comes together and can’t be held without sticking to hands i.e., add more flour as needed but being careful not to add too much. You just want the dough to be pliable but still soft

  5. 5

    Turn dough over a floured surface and knead until smooth. When you lightly press onto the dough with your fingertip, it should immediately start to spring back

  6. 6

    Brush oil on the side of a bowl and transfer kneaded dough to this bowl. Cover and let rise for an hour. Bread dough should have doubled in size

  7. 7

    Preheat oven to 180C

    Punch air out of the dough and divide into sizable rounds. Place rounds onto a greased pan, leaving spaces in between them. Lightly spray water over the balls and sprinkle sesame seeds for garnish. Cover and allow to rest for 30minutes

  8. 8

    Once proofed (i.e., doubling in size and almost connecting to each other), bake rolls for 25 to 30 minutes or until cooked through and beautifully golden. Brush top with butter for shine before they completely cool
