Wash the dal and put in the pressure cooker with enough water, add onion, tomato, haldi powder, salt, green chili, ginger, oil and curry leaves and pressure cook for two to three whistles.

Let the pressure release on its own.

Then whisk the dal. Heat oil in the tadka pan when hot add jeera then add chopped garlic fry till light brown, then pour it on the dal.

Cook the dal on a medium flame for 5 mins. Off the flame. Serve it with rice
