Winter is the season when we enjoy hot snacks like Sharla.So flavouful .
Sharla is a street food from Jalandhar, Punjab.I learnt this recipe from one of my friends.It is very tasty , crispy and nutritious because it is made of fresh new potato ( with skin),spinach, Fenugreek leaves,gram flour and spices. It has all the flavours - mint chutney,sweet saunth,grated radish lachcha or sweet curd.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 kgBaby potato - boiled-(only one whistle)
  2. 1 cupSpinach (washed and finely chopped)
  3. 1 cupFenugreek leaves (washed and finely chopped)
  4. 1Green chilli -(finely chopped)
  5. 1/2 inchGinger (grated)
  6. 1 1/2 tspSalt
  7. 1 tspRed chilli powder
  8. 2 tspCoriander powder
  9. 1/2 tspGaram masala
  10. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  11. 1 tspRoasted cumin powder
  12. 2 cupflour/besan
  13. 1/4 cupwater
  14. As required Oil for shallow frying
  15. 1/2 cupMint chutney
  16. 1/2 cupSaunth
  17. 1/2 cupRadish grated
  18. 1/2 cup+ 2 tbsp Curd + sugar

Steps

40 min.
  1. 1

    Take boiled potatoes,(when potatoes are warm,add spinach, Fenugreek leaves,all the spices,gram flour and water.Mix it well like a thick batter.

    Heat oil in a non-stick pan,pour potato mixture on the pan in a round shape in the oil.Cook it for 3-4 min.on medium heat,flip it over and cook it on the other side on low flame until golden brown.Transfer it on the kitchen paper.

    To serve - Take a plate,place Sharla on it, sprinkle radish lachcha over it, pour mint chutney on it and in the end,pour some saunth or sweet chutney on it.You can skip the radish lachcha,in that case pour green chutney, saunth and curd over it and serve.
