Crispy-Fried Hanpen Fishcake with Cheese

Hanpen comes in handy; it has nice flavour and cooks through easily. I created this quick and easy recipe by using common ingredients I had on hand.
It's easier to use 2 spoons to shape the mixture, and drop it into the pan in Step 5.
Hanpen, cheese, and ham have their own flavour already, so it's ok to eat them without sauce. But if you want, add some sauce or ketchup. For 2-4 servings (about 12 pieces). Recipe by caramel-cookie

Steps

Cut the cheese and the ham into 5 mm cubes.

Grind the hanpen in a food processor or with a mortar and pestle, and transfer to a bowl.

Add the egg and the katakuriko in that order. Mix well each time. Add Step 1 to the bowl and mix.

Peel the potatoes. Grate them over the bowl and mix with the other ingredients.

Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Spoon Step 4 into the pan. Fry them for 4-5 minutes over medium heat.

When lightly browned, flip them. Fry the other side for 3-4 minutes as well, and turn off the heat.

Serve on a plate.
