Immerse the salted herring roe in lightly salted water for 6-8 hours to remove the salt. (Change out the salt water every 2-3 hours)

While the herring roe are soaking, make the marinade. Add all of the ☆ ingredients into a pot and boil. Then let it cool.

Carefully peel off the thin outer skin of the herring roe. It's easy to do if you use a paper towel.

Place the herring roe into a plastic container, add the marinade, and let soak for half a day to one night.

Wrap the dried bonito flakes in a paper towel. Soaking them together will increase the flavor.
