Ingredients

  • 1/2 poundlarge shrimp or prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 canpineapple slices in syrup (such as Dole, about 20 ounces/565 grams)
  • Sweet potato starch or tempura batter mix
  • 1large egg
  • as neededMayonnaise,
  • as neededChocolate sprinkles,
  • Shrimp marinade
  • Pinchsalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Rinse the shrimp and remove the vein along the back. Soak the shrimp briefly in salted water.

  2. 2

    Mix sweet potato starch or tempura batter mix with a little water to make a batter, then add the egg and stir until smooth.

  3. 3

    Coat the shrimp in the batter. When the oil is hot (test by inserting a chopstick—if it sizzles, it's ready), fry the shrimp until golden brown, then remove and drain.

  4. 4

    Stir-fry the pineapple briefly, then remove and mix together with the fried shrimp.

  5. 5

    Drizzle with mayonnaise and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles to finish.
