Lotus stem or Nadru as called in Kashmir is an underwater root Vegetable which has a shape as that of a squash. It can grow upto a length of 4 feet. Found in shallow parts of water bodies like Dal lake, Wular lake, Mansar lake and ponds in the valley. As Lotus stem or root is rich in Fiber, it helps in digestion. It also is a great source of Vitamin C that helps boost the immunity of the body and helps keep viral infections at bay.

Wash and clean the lotus stem thoroughly and slice each of them as thinly as possible. Also don't forget to peel them after cleaning.

Take these slices in a bowl and add cornflour and salt. Toss well so that all the slices are coated with the flour. Do not add water. Just toss well. That's it.

Heat oil on a medium high. Deep fry them few at a time until crisp and done. Drain on an absorbent paper. That's it.

Relish these beautiful looking chips at tea-time or a special brunch or even as an afterschool snack or as an anytime munchie. Enjoy!
