My second son is really into Super Mario 3D Land. Making Mario looked difficult, so I made cute Toad (Kinopio) instead. He was quite happy with that. (LOL)

I microwave the rice for 20 seconds after Step 1 to blend flavors. (It depends on how I'm feeling that day.) To make a larger version of the mushroom cap pattern, you can stick nori on the red outer part of crabsticks. The crabstick comes apart easily so handle it carefully. I stick the various parts on using a bit of ketchup on the end of a toothpick as glue. For 1 serving. Recipe by Pyonmachato

1Hot cooked white rice
4to 5 Imitation crab sticks
1Nori seaweed
1 dashKetchup
1 dashof each Salt, sugar

Mix a little ketchup in 1/3 of the rice, and season as you like. I add a little sugar and a tiny bit of salt. Form into the face of Toad.

Mix a little salt into the remaining 2/3rds of the rice (you can add a filling if you like, too) and form the head part.

Squeeze the two rice balls together, and put them in a bento box.

Carefully peel off the red outer layer of the crabsticks,

Make the eyes out of nori seaweed. The white parts of the eyes are made by cutting out the white part of a crabstick with a straw. The inside of the mouth is a half-moon shape cut from the red part of a crabstick.

Done! I squeezed the mushroom parts from the sides to balance out the shape.
