Sago or Tapioca flour or starch along with Milk put together makes these yummy little Rice cakes or Mochi.
These are not made from the glutinous Rice as in Japan or Taiwan but are instead made with the Sago Pearls flour.
They are not so chewy as the authentic one's but are absolutely a treat to our tastebuds. The best thing is that these can be enjoyed by the kids as well. It's not so chewy at all and doesn't require a proper chewing before eating as it is very sticky.
Not only that, these can be filled with anything you would love to like the authentic one's with the Red Bean paste or Anko. Or even any Fruit pulp, Chocolate, Cream etc. The variations can be made and relished with your loved ones and friends alike. They just melt in mouth unlike their original counterpart that are sticky and glutinous or chewy.

Steps
- 1
Whisk flour, sugar and milk in a sauce pan until well combined. Cook on a low to medium high heat by stirring all the while.
- 2
Do not cover and keep stirring until it comes together like a slightly sticky mass. As soon as it appears shiny and glossy, remove it onto a plate.
- 3
Pinch small balls from this cooked dough and arrange on a serving platter. These are ready to be served now.
- 4
But before serving, powder sugar and black sesame coarsely in a mortar and pestle. Sprinkle this powdered sesame on the mochi. Serve immediately. Or chill in the refrigerator for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy! Yum!
