Classic Biscuits

These have an American taste. Even though they're just ordinary biscuits, my husband took one bite and said, 'Delicious!' Split them in half and enjoy with butter, syrup, or jam as you like.
The story behind this recipe
My husband likes savory biscuits. Sweet scones don't get this kind of reaction from him.

Steps
- 1
Chill the shortening and butter in the freezer.
- 2
In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt well. Add the butter and shortening, and rub them in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- 3
Add the milk and mix. The dough will be quite soft and sticky.
- 4
Dust the surface with flour and transfer the dough. Shape the dough into a round, flip it over, and dust with flour.
- 5
Fold the dough from the edges towards the center. Flip it over again and fold the dough in the same way.
- 6
Flip it over once more, then roll it out to about 3/4 inch thick. Cut out rounds with a 2 1/3 inch cutter.
- 7
Place the biscuits on a baking sheet without much space between them, and gently press the center of each with a rolling pin.
- 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
