Rosca de Reyes Filled with Cream Cheese

I decided to make this gourmet rosca because I didn't want to buy the ones sold at supermarkets. Of course, it turned out to be more affordable than buying one.

Steps
- 1
Place the yeast in a bowl and add the teaspoon of sugar and the 1/2 cup of warm milk. Let it rest for 10 minutes. On your work surface, make a well with the flour and add the butter, cinnamon, whole eggs, egg yolks, salt, orange zest, vanilla, and orange juice. Mix all the ingredients until the butter is fully incorporated. Then add the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, orange juice, and the yeast mixture.
- 2
If the dough needs more flour, add a little and knead for 15 to 20 minutes until it no longer sticks to your hands.
- 3
Lightly oil a bowl, place the dough inside, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 4
After resting, roll out the dough into a long strip of medium thickness. Add the cream cheese, walnuts, and figurines, then seal it. Place the ring on a greased baking sheet.
- 5
For the sweet topping: Mix the sugar, flour, shortening, and food coloring. Shape into strips and place on the rosca along with the candied fruit and cherries.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Let the dough rest for 15 minutes, then bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
