Chili con Carne

The first time I ate Chili was at a school event at Gordon Junior High. I was impressed by how similar ingredients could turn into a different cuisine than ours. I became more addicted to this dish when I started watching the soap opera "Maria Mercedes" because I loved Thalia's acting so much. In DC, it's easy to make because of the McCormick spice mix, but in Jakarta, it's not difficult either; everything is available at the local market.

Steps
- 1
Preparation: Boil the kidney beans for 30 minutes and let them sit in the water until cool (they should be slightly soft). Prepare all ingredients and spices.
- 2
Crush and chop the garlic, finely chop the onion, green bell pepper, tomatoes, and cilantro.
- 3
Thinly slice the tenderloin, sauté the ground beef with a little oil and garlic.
- 4
Cooking: Use a heavy-bottomed pot, sauté the onion and garlic with a little oil until soft and fragrant.
- 5
Add the ground beef and sliced tenderloin, chopped tomatoes, stir. Add ground cumin, chili powder, salt, brown sugar, bouillon cube, stir until the meat looks cooked.
- 6
Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Let it sit for a while until the water reduces and thickens. Add chopped green bell pepper, jalapeño, sliced red chili if desired, and sliced cilantro. Stir well.
- 7
If you prefer it more soupy, wait 5 minutes - done - ready to serve. If you prefer it saucy (thick like a sauce), wait 10-15 minutes.
- 8
Chili Con Carne is ready to serve. Place it in a bowl, sprinkle with sliced cilantro and grated cheese.
- 9
It can be eaten with rice, tortillas, or bread - Some like it hot, some like it cold, some eat it at breakfast, others eat it at midnight. Muy Bien.
