Burger Pies

Last night, while scrolling through TikTok for inspiration, I stumbled upon a tutorial on how to make delicious burger pies. I thought this was a unique twist on classic burgers. I was intrigued by the idea and I decided to give it a try and share the results with you here.
I promise you excitement every step of the way as you make these. And if you decide to enlist the help of a toddler, fear not! The assembly process is a breeze, ensuring that even the littlest chefs can get involved. They will love layering on the cooked beef patties and cheesy slices before sealing everything in with another round of pastry.
The use of puff pastry transforms these burger pies into flaky, savory delights that are bursting with cheesy beef goodness without the mouthfill of the traditional burger bun.
Happy cooking! This beef is fetching for the #GlobalApron

Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and dust a baking sheet and set aside
- 2
Thoroughly mix all the beef patty ingredients together. Divide into 7 meat balls and press each ball down lightly to form a patty or beef burger
- 3
Slightly cook beef patties for 3 to 5 minutes on each side without overcooking. Patties will continue to cook in the oven and hold shape when stuffed into the puff pastries
- 4
Using a rolling pin, roll out the puff pastry to slightly stretch out the dough and yield 14 round sheets when divided. Alternatively, you can maintain the store-bought thickness and make fewer pies, but this would require reducing the number of beef patties
- 5
Cut the pastry into 14 round sheets and assemble the pies by placing individual sheets onto the prepared pan, ensuring they are spaced a few inches apart. Place a beef patty on each pastry sheet and a slice of cheese. Finally, top with another round sheet of pastry
- 6
Sew the edges by pinching the pastry sheets together into a preferred design. Poke the top with a fork or slit a cross using a knife to allow air out and keep the pie from breaking as it bakes
- 7
Whisk the egg and brush the tops of the assembled pies with the eggwash. Sprinkle some sesame seeds over the top or any prefered edible seeds
- 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until slightly golden. Cool on a rack slightly and enjoy warm
