Soak all the grains overnight.

Next day,boil the grains till they are completely tender and mashed.

Heat oil in another pan.

Add in whole spices and onion.

Fry till onion is light golden.

Add in chicken,chilli paste and ginger garlic.

Stir them well.

Add in all the spices and yoghurt and stir for 5-7 minutes.

Add in water and cook covered for 40-45 minutes.

Discard the bay leaves and cinnamon.

Mash the chicken well.

Mix together chicken and grains along with some water.

Cook covered for 10 minutes.

Heat oil in another pan.

Fry onion till light golden.

Pour this tarka over haleem and mix.

Throw in toppings.

Serve hot.
