Combine all the flour, cornstarch, sugar, powdered milk, yeast, and baking powder in a bowl.

Gradually add 1 cup of warm water while mixing, then add the remaining 1/2 cup until you get a smooth, stretchy batter. Keep mixing until the batter is smooth, then let it rest for at least 30 minutes until it rises.

Heat plenty of oil in a deep pan.

Fill a regular plastic bag with the batter, cut off a corner, and squeeze the batter into the hot oil, cutting pieces with scissors as you go.

Fry for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly, until golden brown.

Decorate as you like. I made chocolate sauce and crushed nuts for topping.
