Orange Cake with Orange Glaze and a Special Citrus Twist!

🧡 The best recipe for orange cake!
🧡 Tender, soft, and moist, this orange cake is a real treat! Packed with citrus flavor, it comes together quickly and easily.
🍊 Here’s a special tip with the sugar and orange zest! Don’t skip this step! Rubbing the orange zest into the sugar helps release the oils from the zest and infuse them into the sugar, making the orange flavor even stronger.
🍊 Make sure your eggs are at room temperature so they blend evenly into your batter without overmixing. If you forgot to take them out, quickly bring them to room temperature by placing them in a bowl and covering them with warm tap water for 5 minutes.
🍊 Don’t overmix—this is why you don’t need a mixer for this recipe.
🍊 Avoid making the glaze too thin, or it will slide right off the orange cake.

Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (170°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- 3
In another bowl, combine the sugar and orange zest. Rub the zest into the sugar with your fingers or a spoon until the sugar turns light orange and looks like sand.
- 4
Add the oil, eggs, orange juice, and vanilla. Whisk until combined.
- 5
Pour into the flour mixture and whisk until all the flour is incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- 6
Bake for 1 hour, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. If it needs more time, cover with aluminum foil for 10 minutes. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- 7
For the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, zest, and juice until smooth. Gradually add the juice until you reach your desired glaze consistency.
- 8
Pour the glaze over the cooled cake and let it set for 30 minutes. Store the cake in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
