Ingredients

Total Time :-10–12 minutes
2–3 servings per bowl
  1. 3/4 cupsliced fresh water chestnuts (shingoda)
  2. 1/2 cupboiled black chickpeas
  3. 1chopped tomatoes
  4. 1/4 cuppomegranate arils
  5. 2 tbspchopped coriander
  6. 1 tbspchopped mint leaves
  7. 1/2 tsproasted cumin powder
  8. 1/4 tspwhite pepper powder
  9. 1light sprinkle of chaat masala on pomegranate (my added twist — the original version did not include this)
  10. Salt to taste
  11. as neededLemon juice

  1. 1

    In a mixing bowl, add boiled black chickpeas, sliced water chestnuts, and chopped tomatoes.

    Add coriander, mint, white pepper, roasted cumin powder, and black salt.

    Add salt and combine everything gently.

    Sprinkle lemon juice just before serving and mix gently.

    Add pomegranate arils — toss lightly.

    Finish with a tiny sprinkle of chaat masala over pomegranate to enhance the sweet–tangy pop.

    ∆ High fiber from chickpeas and low-calorie water chestnuts make it filling yet light.

    ∆ Avoid fried toppings to maintain its healthy nature.

Tips

∆ Add lemon juice just before serving to keep Water Chestnut crisp.

∆ You can chill the ingredients beforehand for a more refreshing bowl.

∆ Avoid adding too many wet ingredients — it can reduce crunch.

∆ Add green chilli only if you prefer a spicy kick.
