This, I believe is a Tamil recipe, though I am not very sure. It might even be called Puli Venda Saaru.
It builds upon my other recipe of onion chilly mash.
This is used as a main course curry for traditional meals.

Steps

Prepare the tamarind solution by mixing the tamarind in luke warm water and removing the seeds. Make sure it has the required tangy taste.

Add the mustard seeds into the pan. Add oil and heat until the seeds pop.

Mash the onions with bare hands and add them to the pan and stir.

Add the chopped red chillies also the pan and stir well for 5 minutes.

Add the tamarind solution to the pan and cook until it becomes a semi-thick solution.

Garnish with curry leaves and serve with rice or other traditional meals.
