Rolled oat cookies

I was tired of buying cookies online for children at home, it's hard to find one without additives, artificial colour, and preservatives. When I found one, it's so expensive and not sustainable for my wallet. So, welp, better make it myself then.

I was tired of buying cookies online for children at home, it's hard to find one without additives, artificial colour, and preservatives. When I found one, it's so expensive and not sustainable for my wallet. So, welp, better make it myself then.
Steps
- 1
Preheat oven in 190°C or 375°F
- 2
☆ Put flour, baking soda, baking powder into a bowl, stir/ mix until combined.
- 3
Beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy or until your arm feels want to fall off. You can use standing mixer in medium high speed to spare the agony in your arm.
- 4
Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter sugar mixture.
- 5
Beat or mix again for 1-2 minutes
- 6
Add ☆flour mixture gradually to the mixer bowl, while mixing it in low speed until they're combined nicely. Or if you don't use standing mixer, just mix it with spatula or your hands (gloved, otherwise it would be very sticky, use food grade plastic glove or rubber glove)
- 7
Change your standing mixer's whisk into beater. Add rolled oats to the mixture. If you don't use standing mixer, and rolled oats and mix it with your hands (gloved). Just mix until it fully combined and looks nice.
- 8
You can add your toppings if you want. Either putting it together in the mixture or decorate it when you put it in the baking tray
- 9
Put parchment/baking paper into your baking tray
- 10
Shape your cookie dough according to your taste. I would just roll them flat in the tray and cut it with knife or pizza cutter. Or, when in the mood, roll the dough into a ball and press it with the back of a mug.
- 11
Bake the cookies in pre-heated oven for 8-13 minutes.
- 12
Let them cool down before storing, okay it might be more than 20 cookies, I miscounted.
- 13
Don't forget to turn off your oven please.
Tips
If your butter is too hard, you can microwave it for 1-3 minutes in auto defrost setting so it won't be rendered like a ghee.
You can substitute the butter with vegan butter, margarine, or just plain oil to be honest, as long as it's not strong smelling oil like sesame oil. Though with oil, you'd need more time to beat them to look fluffy a.k.a mayo-like. If you're lazy, no need to fluff it.
Of course by doing these, don't expect the result will be exactly the same as the original ingredients.
