Ingredients

6-serving
  • 2 Cupsall purpose flour
  • 3 Tablespoonscocoa powder , unsweetened
  • 2 Teaspoonsbaking powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoonbaking soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoonsalt
  • 2 Cupsmilk whole
  • 2 Tablespoonswhite vinegar
  • 1/2 Cupsugar granulated
  • 2eggs large
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoonsred food colouring
  • 2 Teaspoonsvanilla extract
  • 1/3 Cupbutter , unsalted , melted

  1. 1

    In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. set aside.

  2. 2

    Measure out milk into a liquid measuring jug and whisk in the vinegar. allow the mixture to rest for 2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.

  4. 4

    Add the milk mixture, red food colouring, vanilla and melted butter and whisk well to combine.

  5. 5

    Add the dry ingredients in gradual increments while mixing till you get a uniform batter. let the batter rest for about 5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Heat a non-stick griddle and lightly butter it.

  7. 7

    Pour the batter into heart shaped moulds (i used cookie cutters) placed on the griddle.

  8. 8

    Remove the mould whne the surface is bubbly, and flip the pancake.

  9. 9

    Cook through, and remove onto a serving platter.

  10. 10

    Serve with a liberal dusting of icing sugar, and syrup on the side. no better way to start valentines day!!

Hey! I'm a super busy mommy to 3 year old mixed gender twins. I guess that's enough said about the amount of time i get to spend cooking :). Most of the food I cook is about saving time, but not compromising on flavour. My biggest supporter is my hubby, who loves trying out new recipes and experimenting with different flavours. We love entertaining friends, and our home is the usual watering hole in our gang. So we try to come up with some innovative, fun food. Hope u guys like them!
