Rinse the rice and boil it with the water for 10 minutes.

Add 3 1/2 cups of the milk to the rice and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring often.

Add the sugar to the rice mixture.

Dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining milk and pour it into the pot.

Cook the rice pudding for another 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly, until it thickens.

Remove the pot from the heat, add the vanilla extract, and stir for a moment.

Serve in 5-6 bowls and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
