Preheat the oven to 400°F.

In a large bowl, combine flour, cheese, baking powder, sugar and salt.

Cut in butter with two knives or a pastry cutter until dough is crumble.

Stir in milk until dough is just moistened.

Kneading on a floored surface for 1 minute; divide in half.

Roll each portion into a 12-by-8 inch rectangle; cut each rectangle into 8 long strips.

Fold strips in half lengthwise, pinching edges together, then twist into pretzels shapes.

Place on greased baking sheets.

Brush with egg; sprinkle with course salt.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve immediately.
