Cooking Instructions
- 1
I'm not going to post a cookie recipe, we all have our favorites but if you need one I have a few listed in my other recipes
- 2
Roll out your dough and cut 2 of every sized star that you have
- 3
Bake according to your recipe directions and cool on a wire rack
- 4
Meanwhile make up some icing with powdered sugar, a little water and some drops of green food colouring. It needs to be thick enough to not run off your cookies
- 5
Ice the cookies all over and place sugar balls at each star point before the icing sets too hard
- 6
Start stacking them with the largest stars at the bottom and finishing with the smallest on top. Twist every alternate star so you get a good effect. You could colour the top star yellow and stick it upright in the icing of the previous star
- 7
This makes an effective Christmas tree cookie stack for use as table decorations at Christmas dinner and your guests can have a nibble between courses!

You could also cut a large disc of ready roll icing and drape it over the top, it would pleat nicely around the cookies, stuck on with a little jam instead of using royal icing Vicky@Jacks Free-From Cookbook -

Christmas Cookie Decoration '08 Christmas Cookie Decoration '08
These decorations are an every year traditio,n but this year, 2008, I added a mini version of the train fromand simply made this tree. I also added the ornaments. This recipe also made an appearance in the December 16 & 25, 2008 editions of "Gohan Nikki" (Food Journal)Since the dough needs to be frozen, prepare it and cut out the shapes beforehand. Doing it the day before is also okay. Just so you know, I made the dough, cut the shapes, baked, and built it all on different days.In our family, we enjoy eating the cookies bit by bit before Christmas, like an advent calendar!
