Mix the kunafa dough ingredients together and pour them into a water bottle. Poke holes in the cap with a needle or pin. Heat a frying pan and lightly grease it with oil. Squeeze the dough in random lines onto the pan. Let it dry, then flip to the other side. Repeat until all the dough is used.

Let it cool for five minutes.

Grind the kunafa dough.

For the filling, mix the milk with the cornstarch and let it cool.

Make the syrup and let it cool.

Melt a stick of butter, add orange food coloring, and rub it into the kunafa dough. Place a layer of kunafa dough on the bottom of a baking dish, add the filling, then cover with another layer of kunafa dough. Bake in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes, using only the bottom heat.

Remove from the oven, pour the syrup over the top, and decorate as desired.
