Carrot Throat Soother

When I was a kid my grandmother always used to make this for me when I had a sore throat. It did help alleviate a scratchy throat and it always tasted better than medicine but I highly doubt its healthy for you with the amount of sugar, but once in a blue moon doesn't hurt.

Ingredients

  1. 6 tbspSugar
  2. 1 tbspwater
  3. 2 mediumcarrots / or 1 large one

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Peel and slice the carrots finely and place in a bowl.

  2. 2

Add the sugar over the carrot and water. Don't stir at this stage.

  3. 3

Cover and leave the sugar to melt at room temperature and to absorb the carrot flavour. Its better to make the night before to absorb more of the flavour or at least 2 hours before.

  4. 4

Once the sugar has melted entirely, stir the mixture.

  5. 5

You can either strain using a sieve so its just the syrup or spoon the syrup.

  6. 6

Take a spoonful as and when you need to.

  7. 7

I suppose you can eat the sliced carrots aswell, I sometimes have a few slices they become really soft, gooey and sweet.
