Steps

10 mins
  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350 or so.. ... This recipe is for smaller apples but i would recommend using large apples and increase the measurements slightly. More the better!!

  2. 2

Make sure to rinse your apples off first.. then TO CORE YOUR APPLES: With a sharp knife, at a angle cut a small circle around the stem, about the size you would think the core is. Pop the cirlce out.

  3. 3

I use the opposite end of a spoon, so the end of the handle to scoop the core & seeds from the center. Try not to poke through the bottom of the apple, not a huge deal but just better not to. Be sure to get the hard pieces out but not too much of the meat of your apple.

  4. 4

Sometime I peel the apples slightly, either way is great!

  5. 5

tip: I place a bit of lemon juice or white sugar in each apple's sides to keep from browning when im doing a batch of more than a few.

  6. 6

Layer the following ingredients in each apple- put a sliver of butter (1/4 tsp or so) in the bottom of each.. Next sprinkle a spoonful of brown sugar in each, next 2 spoonfuls of oats, then about 8 to10 or so raisins, another spoonful of oats, a sprinkle of cinnamon, then pack the rest of the apple almost full of brown sugar, place about a half tsp of butter on top, squish down with your thumb.

  7. 7

Wrap each apple individually in 2 layers of tin foil.

  8. 8

Place on a cookie sheet with sides in case any slight spills.

  9. 9

Place in the oven for 20 to 30min, depending on how soft you would like your apple. I leave them for about 25..

  10. 10

When done remove from foil and place in a bowl, pour juices from tin foil onto apple. Let cool for a moment.

  11. 11

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping! Much like apple crisp! Enjoy :)

  12. 12

TO MAKE CAMPING: Just follow directions above to prepare apples, then instead of in the oven place them in a preheated grill (bbq) on about medium or med.high for 15-20min, or over the camp fire for 15-20, the open fire is a little tricky but just watch them and squeeze them occasionally to see how they're doing. Soo good on any camp trip!

  13. 13

And of course you can always use WHATEVER INGREDIENTS YOU WOULD LIKE! just some brown sugar & butter is a must.. or ive put cinnamon flavor hard candys in each before, yumm!
