  1. 1 tspdried yeast
  2. 4 cupwarm water (110 degrees F / 45 degrees C)
  3. 2 tbspsalt
  4. 3/4 cupwhite sugar
  5. 1 cupbutter/margarine melted
  6. 4eggs
  7. 12 cupbread flour
  8. 1egg
  9. 1/2 tspvanilla extract

    sprinkle the yeast over the water in a large bowl, and stir gently to moisten the yeast. stir in salt, sugar, butter/margarine & 4 eggs and beat well.

    Gradually mix in the flour, 1 cup at a time, upto 12 cups, until the dough becomes slightly tacky but not wet.

    Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic for about 8 - 10 minutes.

    Grease baking sheets and set aside.

    Cut the dough into 4 equal-sized pieces. cut each piece into thirds for 3 strand braided loves working on a floured surface.

    Place the loaves onto the prepared baking sheets and let it rise until double in size, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175 degrees C).

    Whisk 1 egg with vanilla extract and brush the loaves with egg wash.
