add 1/2 c buttermilk stirring just to moisten ingredients

dough should be soft and moist add remaining 1/2 cup as needed

turn dough on a lightly floured surface and kneed gently about 10 times or just until dough holds together

roll or pat dough into a rectangle

with short side nearest u spread top 2/3 of dough with softened butter leaving bottom 1/3 unsalted

fold dough into thirds like u would fold a letter pull botton third over the middle and then top third over middle

in same manner spread w butter and fold letter style

pat into a rectangle spread w butter and fold like a letter

work quickly and gently

pat dough into a rectangle 3/4 inch thick on floured surface

place into pan 1 inch apart

lightly brush tops w melted butter
