my family totally LOVES this bread... especially when we use it to make french toast. yumminess no matter how you choose to serve it.

Ingredients

  1. 1 packagesactive dry yeast (1/4 oz)
  2. 3 cupbread flour
  3. 2 tbspbrown sugar
  4. 2 tbspwhite sugar
  5. 1 tspsalt
  6. 1 tspcinnamon
  7. 4 tbspsoftened butter or margarine
  8. 1egg, beaten
  9. 1 cupwarm milk (regular, 2%, skim, almond...they all work)
  10. 1/4 cupwarm water.. heated to about 100 degrees F
  11. 1 cupmini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

    mix warm water & both sugars and stir til desolved. stir in yeast and let sit for 10 minutes. (enjoy watching the yeast burst to life and grow)

    add warm milk, butter, egg, salt and cinnamon and mix well

  3. 3

    add in about 75% of flour. stir to incorporate and then let sit and rest for 15 - 20 minutes

    slowly add in remaining flour and chocolate chips

  5. 5

    turn out dough onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. .. about 10 minutes

  6. 6

    move to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and towel and place in a warm spot to rise until doubled. .. about 1 - 2 hours

  7. 7

    punch dough down and divide in half. form each half into a loaf shape and place into lightly greased loaf pans

  8. 8

    cover lightly and allow to rise again til doubled. ... about 45 minutes. while loaves are rising. .. preheat oven to 350°F

  9. 9

    bake for 35 - 45 minutes or until loaves sound hollow when tapped lightly. remove from oven and allow to cool completely on wire rack

    enjoy plain, with butter or jam... you can even toast it

  11. 11

    or... (and this way is totally yummy and my favorite)... after a few days, cut nice thick slices and use this bread to make decadent french toast and top it with fresh fruit
