This is one of my family’s favourite Winter desserts. I learned it from my husband’s mother many years ago. It’s absolutely quick and easy, and if you have a frying pan, you can make it. I stock canned peaches in my pantry for always, so that I can make this dessert anytime. Everyone gets excited once they know I am making this dessert. You’ve got to try it!

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 2-3Granny Smith Apples *OR any Apples
  2. 1/4 cupSultanas OR Raisins
  3. 20-30 gButter
  4. 1/4 cupWater
  5. 1 can (410 g)Peach Slices *drained
  6. 2Bananas *cut into 1.5cm thick slices
  7. 2 tablespoonsBrown Sugar
  8. 1 tablespoonRum *optional
  9. Cream OR Ice-cream to serve

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel Apples, remove the core and cut into wedges.

  2. 2

    Place the Apple pieces, Sultanas OR Raisins, Butter and Water in a frying pan, cover with the lid and heat over high heat. Once it’s started bubbling, reduce the heat to medium to low, and cook, tossing occasionally, for 2 to 3 minutes or until Apple pieces are soft.

  3. 3

    Add Brown Sugar, Rum, Peach slices and Banana slices, and mix to combine well.

  4. 4

    Serve hot with Cream or Ice-cream.
