Ingredients

  • 1 cupoil
  • 1 cupcondensed milk
  • 2/1/4cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cuppowdered sugar
  • 2 tspbaking powder
  • 1/2 tspbaking soda
  • 1 cupmilk
  • 1/4 cupcocoa powder
  • as neededChopped dark chocolate
  • as neededHot milk
  • Stencils required
  • 2 (7 inch)moulds
  • Stencils to cut the circles. Two different sizes

Steps

  1. 1

    Whisk oil and condensed milk together.

  2. 2

    Sieve all the dry ingredients except cocoa powder in the above mixture.

  3. 3

    Add milk.

  4. 4

    Mix properly. Now the batter is ready.

  5. 5

    Divide the batter in two portions.

  6. 6

    Mix cocoa powder with one portion. Mix it well.

  7. 7

    Take two 7inch cake moulds.

  8. 8

    Pour both the portions into separate moulds and spread evenly.

  9. 9

    Place the mould inside the pre-heated oven(I opted bati oven).

  10. 10

    Cook both the portions one after another in medium - low heat for 50-60 minutes. You can check if the cake is ready through toothpick. If it comes out clean. The cake is completely baked.

    Clear the edges and demould the cakes. Level the top of the cake.

    Divide each cake into two layers.

  13. 13

    In a bowl, take chopped dark chocolate and pour hot milk in it and mix properly to make chocolate ganache.

    Cut out three circles in each layer.

  15. 15

    Spread chocolate ganache for sticking the layers with each other.

  16. 16

    Then place a medium sized chocolate cake circle in the large sized vanilla circle and then placed the centre piece of vanilla cake.

    Then take larged size chocolate circle and place medium sized vanilla circle in it and then place centre piece of chocolate cake in it.

  18. 18

    Through this process you will get four set of layers.

  19. 19

    Place the layers one over another. First place the layer wch consists of two chocolate circle and one vanilla. Then place the layer wch consists of two vanilla and one chocolate circle. Place the rest of the two layers likewise. This is the step by wch you will get the perfect chessboard cake, if done properly as instructed.

    Now cover the cake with chocolate ganache.
