Luncheon meat and cheese bread

Luncheon meat bread is really common in Hong Kong and they are usually served with eggs. In my recipe, I use cheese instead of egg so to create a different taste for the bread. The recipe is easy so please try it out!

Luncheon meat bread is really common in Hong Kong and they are usually served with eggs. In my recipe, I use cheese instead of egg so to create a different taste for the bread. The recipe is easy so please try it out!

Dissolve dry yeast in warm milk, mix well and leave it for 3 min.

Mix flour, salt, sugar and egg together in a mixing bowl using a wooden spoon.

Now pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture, quickly mix well. Gather the dough together and transfer them into a pastry board.

Gather the crumble flour together and shape the dough into a ball shape. Knead the dough by hands until less sticky. Add in oil and knead until smooth. This process usually takes 15 mins.

Knead the dough into a ball shape, let it rest in warm place (around 40C) for 30 min or until the dough is double in size.

Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Knead the dough into a ball and flatten out the dough into a rectangle shape. Put one piece of luncheon meat and half a piece of cheese. Slightly cut the sides of the dough and cover the fillings. Repeat the steps for the 5 other dough.

Place the dough in warm place (40C) for 30 min again. Preheat the oven to 180C.

After that, the dough should be doubled in size. Brush the dough with egg wash and coat them with Cheddar cheese,sesame seeds and parsley.

Place the dough in the oven at 180C and bake for 15-17min or until golden brown. When the bread is done, place them on the wire rack to cool completely.
