It is dal with lots of tomato a speciality of south Indian cuisine.

In a pressure cooker take washed tur dal and add chopped tomatoes and cook for 3 whistles.

In a tadka pan take oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, red chillies and let it splutter now take the tadka pan down from flame and add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

To the cooked dal add salt and pour the tadka over the dal.

Mix the dal and add 1 or 2 cups of water. Note: this dal is supposed to be thick in consistency. Add water just to make it easily servable.

Ready to serve with hot rice...
