Clean the crabs. Separate the shells and break the legs. Marinate the crabs with turmeric powder & salt. Boil the crabs for 10-15 mins. Keep it aside. In a blender, make a smooth paste of the grated coconut, shallots, and the spice powders, adding little water. Keep it aside. Heat oil in a claypot/manchatti. Splutter mustard seeds & fenugreek seeds.

Add the sliced onion, green chilies, & curry leaves. Saute until onion becomes translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute until they are soft and mushy and the oil starts to separate. Add the prepared coconut paste, 1/2 cup of water, and salt to taste. Mix until well combined.

Add the boiled crabs and mix gently. Cover and cook until crab is cooked well and the gravy becomes thick. Garnish with more curry leaves. Remove from flame. Serve with steamed rice or chapati.
