Steps
- 1
Rinse the millet, rice, and split mung beans together until clean. Add 2 bowls of water (about 4 cups or 950 ml) to a pot and bring to a boil. Dice the carrot and asparagus. Watch the pot as the congee can boil over quickly; stir regularly until the grains are soft.
- 2
Once the rice grains have expanded, add small spoonfuls of pork paste to the pot. Then add the diced carrot and asparagus, season with a pinch of salt and vegetable bouillon granules. Stir and cook for 5 minutes until the congee thickens, then turn off the heat.
- 3
Ladle the congee into bowls and top with cilantro and pepper. This congee is easy to eat and gentle on the stomach, especially good for dinner to help you sleep better thanks to the millet.
