Ingredients

Serves 5 servings
  1. For the harissa:
  2. 2 cupsshredded coconut (about 160 grams)
  3. 2 cupsplain yogurt (about 480 grams)
  4. 2 cupscoarse semolina (about 320 grams)
  5. 1 cupsugar (about 200 grams)
  6. 1/2 cupvegetable oil (about 120 ml)
  7. 1 packetbaking powder (about 2 teaspoons or 8 grams)
  8. 2 tablespoonsorange blossom water (about 30 ml)
  9. 2 tablespoonsrose water (about 30 ml)
  10. For the cream filling:
  11. 4 cupswhole milk (about 950 ml)
  12. 4 tablespoonsall-purpose flour (about 32 grams)
  13. 4 tablespoonscornstarch (about 32 grams)

Steps

  1. 1

    To prepare the harissa mixture: In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients and mix well. Set aside.

  2. 2

    To make the cream filling: Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil and thickens.

  3. 3

    Grease a baking dish with a little butter or oil. Spread half of the harissa mixture in the dish, then add the cream filling. Top with the remaining harissa mixture.
