Cooking Instructions
- 1
Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add the butter and rub together until you achieve the texture of fine breadcrumbs.
Add in the sugar and mix well.
Make a well in the centre of the mixture and add the egg, milk and vanilla extract. Mix to make a soft dough. - 2
Place the dough on a floured surface and press/roll out to 8" (20cm) in diameter. Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 200°C for 10-15 minutes until firm and golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Whip the cream with icing sugar and hull the strawberries (remove the leaves and a small cone from the top of the strawberry), then cut the strawberries in small chunks. - 3
Once the shortcake has cooled slice it in half with a very sharp bread knife. Take the top half and carefully cut it into 8 or 12 equal segments.
Spread a layer of cream on the bottom half of the shortcake and place a leyer of strawberries chunks on top. - 4
Spread another layer of cream and add another layer of strawberries. Keep 8 or 12 pieces of strawberry back for decorating the top of the cake.
Spread the remaining cream onto the filling. Carefully place the shortcake segments on top of the cake.
Dust with icing sugar and place a slice of strawberry on each segment. Dust lightly once more with icing sugar and serve. - 5
#Tips
If your dough is a bit sticky simply add a tablsp of flour into the mixture and it should come together very well.
You can hide any small holes in the top of your finished shortcake with a sprig of mint.

Strawberry Mont Blanc Shortcake Strawberry Mont Blanc Shortcake
The Sweet Potato Mont Blanc Shortcakethat I made in the fall was really popular, so I decided to make a spring-type strawberry cake.Since the spongecake batter is soft and sticky, please make sure to line the mold with parchment paper. If you cut a piece of parchment paper to match the size of the mold, you can fit it into the corners perfectly.Make sure to whip the cream for the filling until it's thick and sturdy. For loaf pan: 18 x 8 x 6 cm [7 x 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 in]. Recipe by nyonta cookpad.japan -
Strawberry Shortcake Trifle Strawberry Shortcake Trifle
The recipe that follows is called a Strawberry Shortcake Trifle and not Strawberry Shortcake as it incorporates vanilla pudding instead of ice cream. It has become my go-to dish when I am asked to bring dessert for a crowd. It’s easy and everybody likes strawberries, cake, pudding, and whipped cream. When I make this recipe I usually have some leftovers as not everything will fit in the pan, so even if I leave my dish behind at the party, I know that a midnight snack awaits me at home! You can also readily adapt this recipe for folks that are on a low sugar diet by substituting Splenda for the sugar in the strawberries and using artificially sweetened pudding and whipped topping. Strawberry Shortcake Strawberry Shortcake
I have only had a couple of decent strawberry shortcakes in my lifetime. Why? I don’t know. I always loved it since childhood, but I never actively went out of my way to find it or make it. So, I had to get my life together and make a change. Now, I found this method from an New York Times article on the internet. I made some adjustments to suit my palate and make it my own, but I’ve got to give the credit to Nancy Harmon Jenkins. Thank you. Karl -
