Ms. Charlotte's peanut butter cups

Peanut butter is Canada's equivalent to Japan's anko (red bean paste)! I made these for my Canadian partner. Referencing a few recipes in English on the internet, I came up with my own original. Did you know that ET ate Reese's Pieces in the movie?Since it's like eating peanut butter straight, Japanese people might experience a culture shock. It's not for everyone. For those who haven't tried the Reese's version, I recommend starting out by making only a small amount, then make it again if it goes over well. These are super easy and tasty! They're usually gone within a day! I always have fun with these cups. Adding toffee or drizzling chocolate sauce over the top. Lots can be done with these guys :)

I found this recipe in an old book that was put together by The Mile High Cake Decorators Club ( an organization created by my mom and my Aunt Bette in the 1970s). This recipe was entered by a woman named Shirley Thomas.The very first time I made them, they became a family favorite. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as we do!
