Traditional Lasagna

I've made this 3 times now and every time it's a success! It is a bit time consuming, but worth every minute. I got this recipe out of "Taste of Home, Winning Recipes."
Traditional Lasagna
I've made this 3 times now and every time it's a success! It is a bit time consuming, but worth every minute. I got this recipe out of "Taste of Home, Winning Recipes."
Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a large skillet, cook beef and pork over medium heat until no longer pink, drain.
- 2
Boil salted water, add noodles, cook till aldente, turn off heat, keep in pot until assembling
- 3
Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, sugar, salt, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
- 4
Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. (This thickened up for me in no more then 30 minutes, so be sure to watch it! )
- 5
Now preheat oven to 375°F
- 6
In a large bowl, combine eggs, parsley, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese and parmesan cheese.
- 7
Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in an UNgreased 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
- 8
Layer with 3 noodles, provolone cheese, 2 cups of cheese mixture, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 9
Layer 3 noodles, 2 cups of meat sauce, remaining cheese mixture, and 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
- 10
Top with the 3 remaining noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese. (Dish will be full!)
- 11
Cover with tin foil (I lightly spray the "touching side" with Pam so the cheese doesn't stick to the foil when removed)
- 12
Bake at 375°F for 50 minutes. Uncover, and bake 20 minutes longer, or until heated through. Let stand for 15 minutes (I always wait about 30 minutes, just to insure all the layers won't spill out when cut)

The Old Italian Lasagna Recipe The Old Italian Lasagna Recipe
I thought I would leave the Greek Cuisine this time around and share this very old delicious Italian Lasanga Recipe, that was given to my mother from her Italian friend Maria many many many moons ago. Our next door neighbors in the states was this wonderful and very happy Italian family. The mother’s name was Maria, can’t remember what the father’s name was and the son’s name was Rosario. As children growing up in the states, most of the time we would play outside, on the street along with the other kids on our block and so did Rosario. Every afternoon/evening a little before 6, Maria would come out yelling “Rosario Manga” hahahaha till this day I still remember how Rosario would respond with “Mama ooohhhh” he would say something in Italian, stomp his feet, cross his arms, and then he would start running so that he would not have to go in and eat. Maria would then become furious and start yelling in Italian and of course then come running after him.My mother and Maria became very good friends, we lived next to each other for so many years, they would exchange recipes, go shopping together, help each other out in the gardens, just being there for one another. What was really unbelievable was that neither one of these two ladies spoke good English, one Italian and the other Greek, and yet they communicated in their own little way. I found that to be amazing!!!This recipe was originally passed on to Maria from her mother, and Mara gave this recipe to my mom. Foodzesty -

Easy Lasagna Easy Lasagna
On the back of a box of Mullers Pasta, there is a recipe for an "easy lasagna bake." I've tweaked their recipe over the years. I like hot Italian sausage in mine but it's also good with sweet sausage, ground beef, or even ground turkey. This is very filling and affordable. It costs under $15.00 to make. It's about the size of a family-sized lasagna dinner you find in the frozen section at the supermarket but tastier. #Fakeaway frozen lasagna. Raven -
