Ingredients

  • 1 lbJimmy deans regular ground sausage
  • 1 lbJennie O ground turkey
  • 3 cupMinced onion
  • 2 tspMinced garlic (in water)
  • 1 can (28 oz)crushed tomatoes
  • 2 can (6 oz)cans tomato paste
  • 2 can (6.5 oz)can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cupWater
  • 2 tbspWhite sugar
  • 1 1/2 tspDried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tspFennel seeds
  • 1 1/2 tspItalian seasoning
  • 1 tspGround black pepper
  • 4 tbspFresh parsley
  • 1 boxLasagna noodles
  • 16 ozRicotta cheese
  • 16 ozCottage cheese
  • 1Egg
  • 3/4 cupParmesan cheese grated
  • 14 sliceMozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cupDried Chives

Steps

  1. 1

    In a 5qt pot, cook sausage, ground turkey. When done drain, and put back into pot.

  2. 2

    Add ingrediants 3-13 and simmer, covered for 90 minutes. Stirring occasionally.

    As sauce is cooking, boil lasagna noodles. Drain and rinse with cold water.

  4. 4

    Mix ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese,chives, and egg together.

  5. 5

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

  6. 6

    Cover bottom of 9x13 inch with a cup- cup and a half of sauce.

  7. 7

    Place about 6 noodles length wise over meat sauce.

  8. 8

    Cover with cheese mixture, then top with mozzarella slices.

  9. 9

    Repeat until layers are complete.

  10. 10

    Cover with foil. To avoid foil sticking, spray foil with cooking spray.

  11. 11

    Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 min.

  12. 12

    Cool 15 minutes before serving.
