Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cupmargarine
  2. 1 cuppowdered sugar
  3. 4 tspvanilla extract
  4. 4 cupflour
  5. 1additional powdered sugar (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    preheat oven to 350

  2. 2

    cream margarine sugar and vanilla.

  3. 3

    stir in flour 1 cup at a time.

  4. 4

    place in a tablespoon sized ball onto ungreased cookie sheet.

  5. 5

    bake about 15 min or until bottoms are golden.

  6. 6

    cool on wire rack.

  7. 7

    add a sprinkling of powdered sugar to the tops of cookies when cool if u like.

    store in airtight container.

    VARIATION:

    FOR MINT MELTAWAYS... add mint extract instead of vanilla and 30 drops of green dye.. make as normal.

    FOR STRAWBERRY MELTAWAYS: use strawberry extract instead of vanilla and add 30 drop red food color.. make as usual.

    FOR BANANA: use banana extract and yellow food color..

    this makes about 40-50 cookies!

    feel free to combine. flavors into one cookie.. split the batch and take a pinch of each flavor and swirl them together in any pattern before baking.
