This simple bread pudding recipe is a breeze. I like to use a whole wheat bolillo from my local Mexican bakery, tear it up and leave it out for a day or two.

Ingredients

1 hour 30 mins
8 servings
  1. 4 cupstale bread torn into chunks
  2. 1 cupsugar
  3. 3 cupmilk
  4. 2 cupraisins
  5. 1 cupchopped pecans
  6. 1 tbsplemon extract
  7. 3 tbspvanilla
  8. 1/2 tspcinnamon
  9. whiskey sauce
  10. 4 tbspbutter
  11. 1 cuppowdered sugar
  12. 1 1/2 ozBourbon or rum (or to taste)

Cooking Instructions

    Combine pudding ingredients and pour into greased 2-quart square baking dish.

    Bake uncovered at 350 ° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

    Combine hard sauce ingredients and cream with a fork.

  4. 4

    Slice into squares, serve hot or cold topped with hard sauce.
