Ingredients

2.5 hours
14 Chapati
  1. 3and a half all purpose flour
  2. 1 cupmashed pumpkin
  3. Cooking oil
  4. Pinchsalt
  5. 1 cupwarm water

Cooking Instructions

2.5 hours
  1. 1

Pour mashed pumpkin, salt and 50ml of cooking oil into your kneading bowl. Mix them well with a fork. Pour flour slowly into the mixture as you mix carefully. Knead to form a soft ball.

  2. 2

Let the dough rest for 30minutes. Knead it again for a few minutes.

  3. 3

Divide the dough into three balls.

  4. 4

Take one of the balls and roll it out. Apply oil on the rolled dough.

  5. 5

Pick one end and fold it inside till you reach the other end. Squeeze the rope-like dough to thin and elongate it.
Take one end and start rolling to form a small ball. Cut it once you achieve your desired ball size. Repeat same process till the rope-like dough is finished.

  6. 6

Fold each end of these balls to the middle to form a smooth round ball.

Repeat the same process with the other big balls.

  7. 7

Put the chapati pan on some moderate heat. In the mean time, take one small ball and roll it out thin.

  8. 8

Put the rolled dough on the hot pan. Let one side cook for 1 minute then turn it. As the other side cooks, apply a tablespoon of oil on the cooked side. After a minute, turn the chapati for the oiled side to cook. Apply a tablespoon of oil on the second side. After a minute, turn for this side to cook as well.

  9. 9

Chapati is ready. Remove from the chapati pan and put it in a hotpot to keep it warm.

  10. 10

Repeat the same process with the other balls.

Note; You may also cook the chapati by first drying them and putting them aside and oil them after you are done drying all the chapati.

Serve the chapati with your favourite stew or beverage.
