Matcha is a high grade Green Tea ground into a powdered form. This powder is whisked into hot water instead of steeping it to form a frothy drink. This act of preparing, presenting and sipping is the backbone of Japanese Tea ceremony.
Infact the best Matcha comes from a single region in Japan called Uji and since there is a limited supply of the top quality Matcha, it's undoubtedly expensive. Also the handling, unique harvesting processes as well as the meticulous planning of it's cultivation leads to the overall cost.
Matcha improves relaxation and increases focus. It can also help boost brain function.
So basically Matcha contains antioxidants that are considered good for Heart, Brain and Liver function and overall health of the body. Like Green tea, Matcha comes from Camellia Sinensis plant. However it's grown differently and has a unique nutrient profile.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Get all the ingredients ready at first. To a tall serving glass, add matcha with some cold water. Beat well with a coffee frother until creamy and frothy.
- 2
To this, now add the chilled milk along with some ice-cubes. Add milk to just about half of the glass. At this point you can see a beautiful green colour with the creamy matcha rising to the top.
- 3
The beating part can be done in a separate glass too. It's absolutely fine. If that is the case, then it can be added on the top later on separately just before serving. That's it.
- 4
Serve immediately for that awesome experience. Enjoy!

Strawberry Vanilla Maple Matcha Latte Strawberry Vanilla Maple Matcha Latte
In our house, Matcha Fridays are a tradition, and we've perfected our favorite matcha latte. When experimenting with a strawberry vanilla maple version, I found that fresh strawberries make all the difference—freeze-dried strawberries don’t compare. Maple syrup is our sweetener of choice, but for a more neutral sweet flavor, sub the maple syrup for simple syrup. #april2026 lilis.home -
Spring-Coloured Sakura Matcha Latte Spring-Coloured Sakura Matcha Latte
I bought some pickled cherry blossoms and wondered if I could use them in a drink. I used some strawberry vanilla tea leaves that were blended with matcha to make a drink a base for this recipe, replacing the strawberry with cherry blossoms. It tasted delicious.I like the salty taste of pickled cherry blossoms so I've only rinsed the saltiness away a little bit in Step 1. If you prefer them to be less salty, please adjust the soaking time to your taste.* In Step 3, feel free to replace the whisked tea with whipped cream if you'd prefer.* I tried adding a few drops of brandy at Step 3 after pouring the latte into the mug and it tasted very nice. * Use one big pickled cherry blossom or two small ones. Calcium-packed Rich Matcha Latte Calcium-packed Rich Matcha Latte
I wanted to make an extravagant and tasty drink using a milk frother that I bought recently. If you are using a milk frother, to prevent it from spattering, don't fill the cup too much in Step 3! The drink doesn't contain sugar, so add toppings to sweeten (honey, kuromitsu, etc.) I recommend milky matcha or chocolate sauce (see, Kinako and sesame are also delicious.
