Slow Cooker Italian Tomato Sauce Slow Cooker Italian Tomato Sauce
Every now and then, I love to make tomato sauce. Not to brag, but I do make a good sauce. To everyone, except my son. My dad would get bread to dip into the pot that I used to make my sauce. My son? He would say, "Mmmmm! Delicious!" That was it, he would not want any more of it.I took the chance to make my sauce in the slow cooker and boy did it pay off. Even my son loved it. That was it for me. I am sold on making my sauce in the slow cooker. He could not get enough of it and that convinced me to keep making it in the slow cooker. For the sauce, you can use any can of sauce that you wish to use. Whether it be crushed, whole tomato, pureed, sauce, it all works in this recipe. For this recipe, I used tomato puree and sauce. I usually use crushed tomatoes and sauce, but I thought that I would keep the pieces of tomato to a minimum for my son. Pure Genius! We cooked it for 8 hours and it was perfect, but you can cook it for 6 hours instead. Either way, at the halfway point, stir the sauce, put the lid back on the pot, and cook for the remaining time. You can also use fresh herbs & spices and cloves of garlic. It will really give this recipe a nice flavor punch. I hope that you like this sauce as much as my family & friends do.Enjoy! J.A.B. -
Stewed Calamari in Tomato Sauce Stewed Calamari in Tomato Sauce
Squid/ Calamari is one of my favorite things to eat. Only if it is cooked right. I used to buy squid for my pops a few times a year and he would make a delectable calamari in a tomato sauce. It was so tender and flavorful. Sadly, I never got him to write it down for me, but he did say just cook it a long time. What did that mean?I tried to make it myself a few times, since he passed. They all failed. Too tough. Too fishy. Etc, etc, etc. Finally, my wife suggested that we should just let it cook for a long time. Who am I to say no to my wife and dad?We did just that, with some carrots. Wow! Not what my dad made, but he would have loved it nevertheless. If you like it saucy, then one pound of squid is just find. But if like a touch of sauce, then use two pounds of squid. The carrots may seem to be an odd touch, but they add to the amazing flavor. Hopefully, you will enjoy this as much as we did.Enjoy! J.A.B. -
Enchilada Sauce - Red Chile Sauce Enchilada Sauce - Red Chile Sauce
This sauce is far better than any canned variety and it will make enough for two large meals! Use this recipe to make red enchiladas, smothered burritos, soups, stews and more! Make certain that you don't wear your good clothes because the process can get a bit messy.I prefer to make my sauce the day before for several reasons. It is one less thing to prepare the day of and if you allow the sauce time in the refrigerator, it will get thicker. This sauce is not the typical "gringo" flour-based sauce, so allowing it time to get thicker really helps the sauce adhere well. If you do make the sauce ahead, you may notice that it appears gelatinous; mix well before using. Izandro -
California Farm Achiote, Adobo and Taco Sauce California Farm Achiote, Adobo and Taco Sauce
The flavors of this fresh achiote paste, adobo sauce and fresh taco sauce are amazing. I use fresh tomato, dried soaked peppers, achiote annatto seeds and vinegar to make achiote paste. This recipe is from mild to spicy, six levels, and two intensities, using the peppers whole or ground and mixed. By adding a tomato and lime juice, I make Mexican Adobo sauce from the paste. I use this Mexican Adobo sauce to marinade meat and cover the meat with sauce to make Al Pastor dishes.Taco sauce also tastes better made fresh from scratch. I use it to make beef, chicken, fish and tofu tacos. Hobby Horseman -
Chogochujang Korean Vinegar Red Chili Miso Sauce Chogochujang Korean Vinegar Red Chili Miso Sauce
When I was a child, my mother learnt how to make this sauce from someone. I have been using this sauce since then. My mother and I made this sauce with roughly measured amounts of ingredients, so our sauces taste different. I decided to create a recipe for this sauce for my children. If you keep a stock gochujangin your fridge, you can easily make chogochujang anytime. In Korea, this sauce is served with boiled trotters. You can keep this sauce in the fridge for about 1 month. You can make it in batches and use anytime. Recipe by Heartful Kitchen Rei cookpad.japan -
