Remove seeds from pumpkin and cut into one bite sizes

By cutting the pumpkin into smaller pieces it boils faster

So the pumpkins don't crumble, peel all edges like the photo

Put water inside the pot, just about covering the pumpkins

Add the granulated soup stock and sake, boil for 5~6 minutes

Check if pumpkins are ready by poking through with a stick

If able to do so, throw out a third of the soup in the pot

This is the seasoning soy sauce (Dashi-Shoyu)

Add sugar and seasoning soy sauce to the remaining soup

Cook for 4 minutes at medium heat.

Cook until the soup has soaked through into the pumpkins

Be careful not to burn the pumpkins

It may seem a little waste throwing out the boiled water but this is the key to making a good boiled dish.
