Steamed Cocoa Bread with Pancake Mix

cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp
I created this because I felt like eating steamed cocoa bread.
Wrap the steamer lid with a large cloth and tie on top of it. This is to prevent water droplets from falling on the bread. Recipe by 4110
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Beat the egg in a bowl, add the milk and sugar, and mix. Add the pancake mix, cocoa powder, and vegetable oil, and mix well.
- 2
Line the pan with cupcake cups, and pour in the batter evenly. If the cups are strong enough, you don't need the pan. You can also use ramekins or pudding cups instead of the pan.
- 3
Bring water to a boil in a steamer and place the pan. Steam for about 15 minutes over high heat. Insert a bamboo skewer, and if it comes out clean, it's done.

Cocoa Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix in a Frying Pan
Here's my take on making steamed bread, which is super popular nowadays. Try this recipe if you're too troubled to bring out the steamer, since you can also prepare some easily in a frying pan.To prevent the hot water splashing onto the bread, be extra careful with the amount of water you use. Also take care when you're removing it from the pan. You can prevent the hot water from dripping if you double the liners (or place muffin cups inside), in which case you'd only need to lift out the cups inside. Recipe by Pukuttopukumaru

Fluffy Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix
I wanted to make easy and economical steamed bread using only one egg.You don't need to worry to much about what order you add the ingredients in. Just mix everything to make a smooth batter. Pancake Mix Dark Chocolate Steamed Bread
I made these with just cocoa powder, but I wanted more impact so I added black cocoa as well.Generally, you check to see if things are done by sticking in a toothpick, but the melted chocolate will stick to the toothpick even when they're baked, so check by looking at the dough or the chocolate. The amount of water needed may different depending on the pancake mix you sue. So adjust the amount of the milk accordingly. Recipe by Bu-nyanm

Basic Steamed Bread in the Frying Pan with Pancake Mix
I based this recipe on the way you cook the traditional Japanese snack, "Gantsuki". This steamed bread is delicious, fluffy, and moist the next day too ♪ Their mild flavour makes them a great snack for kids.Just be careful of the condensation in the steamer! It will make fluffy bread go gooey so be careful when you put the lid on. If you use a domed lid the condensation will run to the edges and stay away from the bread. ※ Even though this bread contains vinegar, it won't taste sour. Recipe by kebeibiko

Chewy Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix & Bread Flour
I really wanted to eat some chewy steamed bread but when I tried to make it with shiratamako, it just wouldn't mix.I should use it for dango instead, so I tried with bread flour and it went quite well.・Pancake mix is a little sweet, whereas rice flour is not, so it needs a bit more sugar than the recipes that use 100% pancake mix.・These have a really light taste so they go well with jam or something similar. Carrot & Cheese Steamed Bread Made with Pancake Mix
I felt that steamed bread alone wouldn't be enough for breakfast, so I added grated carrot and cheese and it was really delicious. In Step 7 the dough will expand when steamed, so if it's wrapped too tightly, it'll cause the batter to deflate. Be sure to wrap it loosely. You can also wrap each one individually!! Recipe by Hinanachoko

Banana Yogurt Steamed Bread Made with Pancake Mix
I had a black banana that I forgot for a while and leftover yogurt in the fridge. I thought they should be ok once they are cooked, so I made steamed bread using them and pancake mix. Chewy Steamed Bread with Mochiko & Pancake Mix
I really wanted to eat a chewy steamed bread so I tried it at first with shiratamako. That didn't go too well, since shiratamako is supposed to be used for dango dumpling-like recipes, so I tried with mochiko instead and it worked!Pancake mix is quite sweet but mochiko isn't, so it's better to use more sugar here than in a 100% pancake mix recipe. This bread has a very light flavour so it's most delicious when served with a sweet spread like jam. For 6-10 servings. Recipe by Pukuttopukumaru

Yogurt Steamed Bread with Pancake Mix in a Frying Pan
I usually use milk to make plain steamed bread, but the result was too soggy when I added extra yogurt into that recipe. So, I tried using yogurt on its own instead of mixing it with milk.To prevent the hot water splashing onto the bread, be extra careful with the amount of water you use. Also take care when you're removing it from the pan. You can prevent the hot water from dripping if you double the liners (or place muffin cups inside), in which case you'd only need to lift out the cups inside. Recipe by Pukuttopukumaru

For Doll Festival: Easy Tri-Color Steamed Bread Cake made with Pancake Mix
I wanted to make a tri-color pound cake for the doll festival....and I wanted it to be healthy...there was still some yogurt left...and why not make steamed bread? ....so I just mixed the ingredients and made this! When creating a layer with the batter, pour the batter evenly from the beginning like in Step 7. If you pour the batter in the middle first and try to spread it out, the cake batters will blend together. I didn't use sugar because I had in mind to make a healthy cake, so the cake is only slightly sweet. Adjust the amount of sugar depending to your liking. For one 15 cm [5.9 in] × 15 cm plastic container. Recipe by Marrietty

Brioche-style Pancake Mix Bread
I tried adding some leftover pancake mix and ended up with a soft, sweet, brioche-like bread, similar to that of our neighbourhood bakery. Brioche usually has plenty of butter, but by using coffee creamer I've reduce the butter. If you put the bread case itself on the scale to weight the ingredients, it cuts down on washing afterwards.About the coffee creamer: there's soy and milk-based types. Either is fine. However, the milk-based type is a bit richer and helps the bread expand, so I would suggest going with this. Recipe by Miashanmama
