Easy with Pancake Mix, Starbucks-style Scones

I love Starbucks' scones, so I tried making them at home.

Mix, knead, and bake. That's all.
I used half the amount of butter and margarine this time!
The dough is floury first, but it will come together, so don't worry.
Honey made the inside of the scones moist, and the outside crispy!
It's better to add honey, but it's optional. Recipe by nyocchiii

Ingredients

8 servings
  1. 200 gramsPancake mix
  2. 50 gramsMargarine (or butter)
  3. 50 gramsMilk
  4. 1Chocolate bar
  5. 2 tspHoney (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Add pancake mix and cold margarine in a bowl. Mix with a spatula or a bench scraper with a cutting motion.

  2. 2

It'll be difficult to combine and crumbly and floury first, but it's ok.

  3. 3

Add milk and mix. It might be still floury, but it's ok!

  4. 4

Add roughly broken chocolate bar, and combine it all together with your hands.

  5. 5

Knead until it's no longer floury. Slightly stretch the dough out in the bowl, and pour honey in the middle.

  6. 6

Fold in the honey, and knead with your hands. When it comes together as in the photo, it's ready.

  7. 7

Preheat the oven to 200℃ (400℉).

  8. 8

    Roll out into a 1.5 ~ 2 cm circle, and cut into 6 ~ 8 pieces.

  9. 9

Place on a baking sheet lined with a parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 ~ 20 minutes.

  10. 10

If they need be baked longer, pay attention while adjusting the baking time.

  11. 11

If they are getting too brown, cover with aluminium foil or turn down the heat to 180℃ (350℉).

  12. 12

    And it's done!

  13. 13

When you don't have pancake mix, refer to this "Kinako Scone".

  14. 14

They are "Tea scones" I used 2 teabags worth of tea leaves instead of chocolate.
