Palitaw Palitaw
Palitaw, a well-known Filipino delicacy, is a rice cake that is boiled to perfection. Traditionally, these rice cakes were made by pounding rice, but nowadays they are predominantly crafted from a mixture of glutinous rice flour and water. These cakes are recognized for their circular and flat shape, which are achieved through boiling in water and subsequently rolling them in grated coconut, crushed nuts, and sweetened sesame seeds. The name "palitaw" is derived from the Filipino term "litaw," which means to float. This refers to the cooking technique wherein the cakes are boiled until they rise and float to the surface. Like other rice cakes in the Philippines, palitaw is commonly enjoyed as a dessert but also serves as a delightful "merienda" treat for the afternoon. LizzieVO -

Easy Homemade Kinako Made with Leftover Beans Easy Homemade Kinako Made with Leftover Beans
We had lots of leftover Setsubun beans since we are supposed to eat an amount equal to our age in the festival (my husband is 29, I am 25, and my daughter is 1 year old), so I created this recipe. My husband loves kinako with warabi mochi. As I mentioned in the recipe, for a more aromatic kinako, roast the beans in a frying pan in advance. For a finer kinako, sift it at the end. With a little time and patience, you'll have authentic kinako powder. Recipe by AyakoOOOOO cookpad.japan -
Fava Beans, Avocado and Tomatoes in Basil Sauce Fava Beans, Avocado and Tomatoes in Basil Sauce
For nearly 50 years, I believed that fava beans had to be boiled in salted water, but since I had cooked corn on the cob successfully in the microwave, I decided to give fava beans a try, too. They turned out really well, and now I'm hooked on this way of cooking them. This is a dish where I mixed these beans with homemade basil pesto.I cooked these fava beans in the microwave, but of course you can boil them, instead.Use a few more cashew nuts than the other nuts for the basil pesto. Adjust the amount of salt according to the type of salt you use. This recipe is very easy if you use store-bought basil pesto. Recipe by gingamom cookpad.japan -
