Broccoli Christmas Tree

I came up with this to surprise my husband who said he'd never done anything for Christmas. It was the year our child was born and my husband was really pleased with this tree. That's the tree shown in the photo in Step 5. Since then, whenever we have parties, I always make this even when it's not Christmas because it makes people happy. It's fun to decorate it together with kids too.
I recommend consomme granules. If you are using a consomme cube, just use one. Cubes can be difficult to dissolve properly, so crush first or simmer and dissolve in milk before use. It is quite spicy, so adjust the spiciness to your liking. Kids might enjoy it with tuna or sausages. It's easier to handle the broccoli if it's boiled quite firm. Decorate with anything - mixed vegetables, tomatoes, egg, etc. Sprinkle with powdered cheese for a snowy white effect. It has a height of 20 cm. For 1 plate worth. Recipe by Daikichi MAX

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Boil or microwave the potatoes, then peel and mash.
- 2
Combine the mashed potato ingredients into a saucepan and stir while cooking over low heat. When the moisture has more or less evaporated and the texture is firm enough to handle, season with salt and pepper and let it cool.
- 3
Pile the mashed potato on a plate, and stick pieces of broccoli boiled in salt water. Decorate as you like.
- 4
The one in this recipe is decorated with sliced bell pepper, radish and heart-shaped ham. It's topped with a piece of bell pepper cut into a star and sprinkled with powdered cheese for a snowy effect.
- 5
I made a simple one last year, with just cheddar cheese.
- 6
This year I made a wreath-shaped version with smoked salmon and ikura (salmon roe). I put tartar sauce in the centre of the wreath.

I've always wanted to make a Christmas tree out of potato salad and I wanted to make a cute, memorable salad.Just have fun decorating the salad any way you like. For the star on top, you can secure with a toothpick or an uncooked spaghetti strand (but only use pasta if you're eating it right away because it will soften over time). This salad looks nice served on a big plate with hors d'oeuvres. Recipe by cocococoa cookpad.japan -
